The Friendship Paradox

Let’s be real now, this isn’t the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Sometimes, I want to choke my best friend, but most of the time I can’t wait to see what kind of debauchery we get into! Friends can be the best thing about life, and they can definitely stand the test of time. All great stories start with friendship, think about the Three Musketeers, Pumba and Timon from the Lion King, Serena and Blair from Gossip Girl, and my newest favorite, Penny and Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory.

I’ve been very fortunate in my choice of friends. I love those little suckers! Yeah, sometimes they get on my nerves and I’m looking through Yelp to try and find an affordable hit man, but most of all they are the people I look to when I can’t seem to find my way. That is the beauty in friendship, they believe in you even when you have stopped believing in yourself.

Friends, like everything in this world, have their own distinct and unique personalities. For example, my other-half Sanna, who lives in Sweden. She is quiet and reserved when you first meet her, but watch out because she can be feisty. And yes, she is blonde. We have had so many adventures and I treasure every second I have with her! Then there is the friend who is brilliant and beautiful and you can’t hate her because she is just so freakin’ nice. Yeah, I have one of those too. I also have my best friend, the cheese to my macaroni and the one I can’t wait to hang out with! We couldn’t be more different and yet we work more perfectly than ying and yang. I wish I could make this article an ode to my all my amazing friends because they deserve that and more, but then I may be put in the creeper category.

Remember that all friendships take work, but they are worth the ride. They are the ones who are going to return your drunk text and calls. The ones who will cheer you on! And plot just how you’re going to nail that cute guy at the coffee shop. They will bring you snacks to school to make sure you don’t die during finals and they will offer to kidnap and torture that not so nice ex-love you have. You, of course, will take them up on their very generous offer. So don’t forget to tell your friends every once in a while how much they mean to you because really, without them, where would we be. I took the liberty of finding oh so attractive photos of my friends, I hope you enjoy!
